Skull and Bones is Back

Allison Alvarez, staff writer

School is back in session which means so is the Skull and Bones Drama Club. Although this season will be very different, we have exciting productions in the works; all of our productions are adapted to be viewed virtually. First we have “A Night On Broadway 2020.” If you haven’t seen previous productions of “ANOB,” it is always one of our best productions of the year because everyone gets the chance to choose what they want to sing and how they want to perform their number. It is a great opportunity for club members to showcase their individual talents because in most productions there aren’t many opportunities to do so. This year we aren’t having any group numbers; only seniors get solos and then sophomores, juniors, and seniors can all participate in either a duet or trio.

We will also be getting in contact with the local elementary school teachers and librarians to ask them about popular children’s books that we can turn into plays. Once the club gets a few suggestions, Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting will help us with the filming, green screen, and other special effects. We will get this posted on our YouTube Channel (Skull and Bones Drama Club) and send them out to elementary school teachers. Also everything posted on YouTube this year will have a donate button taking visitors to our booktix.com page (wcmhs.booktix.com). We lost a lot of money in ticket sales due to our restraints on holding live performances.

The last production we have planned is called “Waving Through A Window.” It will be written, edited, directed, and of course performed by students. We have been brainstorming ideas for our writing and we want this production to really speak for us as a generation. This production will explain how we have grown and the ideas we have to change the world. Senior Maddy De Pascale, who has assistant directed four performances in the past, is now the director for this show! She has been working really hard so far and we can not wait to see the show come together! Please support your fine and performing arts however you can. We are so excited to be doing what we love again this school year and can’t wait for you all to see our performances.
