Street Fair

Fairs are a way to bring many different groups of people together. On September 22-25, 2022, people from all over Bellmore and Long Island attended the street fair not only to enjoy the day, but to support local businesses which flood the streets on the weekend. We went to the town fair not only to enjoy the games, rides, and food, but also to see how Covid affected the businesses who traditionally lined the streets of Bedford and Pettit Avenues.

Once we arrived it was so crowded that vendors were overwhelmed with the amount of business they were receiving. For the most part, a vast majority of vendors agreed that they are bringing in more revenue now than in 2018 and 2019. Those who had to close their shops for a multitude of reasons in the last few years were more than happy to be there for the community in 2022, back to full capacity operations and bringing in more revenue than they had before the pandemic.

Vendors weren’t the only people who were happy with the fair. Parents and children were too. Children of all ages could be seen running around the grounds, anxious to board the next ride or play against their friends at the games. All in all, the street fair has returned to pre-pandemic proportions, and the community couldn’t be more happy to participate.
