*Before the two week long December break took place, the Leo Club had been collecting items for the Polar Express toy drive to donate on December 14, 2024. This included collecting toys, books and hygiene products to donate to kids and their families.
*The event took place at Brookside where many local families were in attendance. The Polar Express toy drive helps families throughout Nassau County just in time for the holidays. Families that attended the event received toys, jackets, hygiene items, pajamas, gloves and more. At this Polar Express train themed event, children attended different stops which included a visit to Santa Claus where they received their brand new gift.
*Leo Club members had been organizing donated items in the weeks leading up to the event. They also helped set up the event and volunteered during the day. Leo Club member Laylah Nelson helped with the set up for the toy drive and said, “I had so much fun helping with the set up for the Polar Express event!” Families and volunteers enjoyed this memorable event before the holidays.
*The Polar Express toy drive is one of many ways the Leo Club helps the community. Nelson added, “The Leo Club does such amazing things for the community. The event was successful and overall was really incredible, especially the way everybody came together to pull it off.” The Polar Express event was a huge effort that helped and gave families a memorable experience where kids got to take home new toys.
