In honor of the winter holidays, the SADD Club hosted the annual “Doors for a Cause” event. This competition consisted of many different students and staff decorating a multitude of doors across the school for the chance to be the champion and win the highly desired prize, a trophy with their name engraved.
Many doors were extravagantly decorated, depicting holiday movies, songs, and stories. From a Wordle door crafted on room 216 to the defending Buccaneer champions with “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” the holiday themes filled the hallways. Ultimately, the winner of the contest went to the door for room 225 hosted by Ms. LaRossa, Mr. Ryan, and Ms. Roth, which was decorated in a Mepham themed version of the beloved Christmas book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
The SADD Club required $20 be given as an entry fee to the event, and will be giving any proceeds gained from the event to the Community Cupboard, which aims to give back to those in need. The event is a way to provide for and make a change in the local community, while also showcasing the imagination and creativity of Mepham’s staff and students. This year’s event raised $160 according to the club advisor, Ms. Frend.
When asked about the event, Ms. Frend said, “As this tradition grows, we’re always looking for ways to make it bigger and better—maybe by adding an extra week to give teams more time to dream big. Whether you’re a participant, a voter, or just cheering everyone on, Doors for a Cause is the perfect way to spread holiday magic, spark some fun competition, and give back. Let’s make next year even more festive and impactful—your door could be the next big winner!”
