From Science Fiction to Tesla

Elon Musk, the 80th richest person in the world, has a net worth of $20.1 billion dollars. His name is one almost everyone recognizes, and he’s one of the smartest people when it comes to business. Musk has five kids, triplets and twins, and was married three times. Musk has a successful life, but how did he come to this?
Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa, with his brother Kimbal and his sister Tosca. Growing up he was obsessed with science fiction novels and anything to do with electricity. He grew up with computers and taught himself programming at the age of 12. He made a game, Blaster, and sold it to a computer magazine for $500.

At 17, he moved to Canada to study physics and economics. He went to Queens University from 1990 to 1992, then Stanford University for one year in 1995, and then the University of Pennsylvania in 1997.

Later, he launched his first company, Zip2, a corporation that made an online city guide software for newspapers, which made new websites like The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune. Zip2 was a software to help journalists and editors, and was also made with help from his brother Kimbal and Greg Kouri. Zip2 was a great achievement for Musk but it was bought in 1999.

Musk moved on to co-found X.com, an online financial company. X.com helps by having online money transfers and the use is worldwide. They later became known as PayPal, and in 2002, Paypal was bought by Ebay.

Musk was onto founding his third company, SpaceX, and is still working for SpaceX to this day. They made Falcon nine rockets, which contained 1000 pounds of supplies for the space station, and no one was on board of the falcon. Musk made an updated design, the BFR, that can carry over 100 passengers. They are aiming to launch to Mars by 2022, since their goal is to colonize Mars. They also launched satellites that provided internet by having it in low orbit.

Musk also founded Tesla, which makes electric cars, solar panels, and batteries. In 2008, Tesla made the Roadster, an all electric super car which can ride for 250 miles until its next charge. It was sold to the public in 2010, raising nearly $226 million dollars. The Roadster has a mile range of 620 miles.

Another Tesla product is the Model S, an electric sedan that can go 265 miles until its next charge, and won the 2013 Car of the Year Award. Model S is great for safety and performance, with quick acceleration and a low probability of injury in any accident.

Model X, a SUV fit for seven people, can go 295 miles per charge. The Model X also has great performance and safety, along with Utility like having a lot of room in the SUV, and has a long electric range.

Later, The Model 3 Sedan came out, which goes 310 miles until its next charge. The Model 3 Sedan includes four wheel drive and has a dual motor. It also is unlike any other car, including an amazing interior like a 15 inch touchscreen and an all glass roof, and you can also unlock the car using your smartphone.
All Tesla cars feature autopilot, a very advanced mechanic that self-drives the car. Vehicles also include premium items like a self presenting front door, custom audio system, seat heaters, and an air filtration system. These cars also have falcon wing doors which improves the design of the car in my opinion. They include a home charging installation, solar panels, and a power wall.

The solar panels not only produce clean energy for your Tesla, but it also produces energy for your home as well. The power wall is a storage for the energy so you can use it at anytime, at night and even during a power outage, like a generator, but with clean energy.

In 2017, they advanced General Motors, and became the most valuable US car makers. Tesla today is still producing new cars that may come out in the future. Tesla doesn’t just sell cars and other electronic products, but also makes accessories for the cars, like mats, wipers, repair kits, car covers, coat hooks and even a Roadside Safety Kit.

Tesla also takes things to the next level, as Musk tweeted a new product called “Teslaquila,” which is tequila. Yes, Musk tweeted that it will be coming soon and even posted a visual representation of the tequila.

In 2019, Musk will release a semi-truck that does 500 miles per charge, and motors built to last one million miles. In 2020, the Roadster will be the fastest car ever made, hitting 60 mph in a whopping 1.9 seconds.

One thing is for sure, Musk will continue to dominate the news headlines whether it’s a new car, a new space discovery, or even new inventions that could change the world.
