Remembering Mrs. Geraci

On January 6, 2019, Mepham lost a significant member of its community. Former teacher, LorriLee Geraci, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 62, surrounded by her loving family. She was an amazingly strong woman who battled with breast cancer for 12 years. Mrs. Geraci taught Living Environment, Intro to Research, AP Psychology, and was a mentor for the Advanced Science Research program. She worked at Mepham for over 20 years and touched the lives of countless students, teachers, and faculty.

Mepham alum, Sarah Schneider, who had Mrs. Geraci as an ASR mentor, became close friends with her after high school. She says, “Mrs. Geraci always looked for the best in each of her students and never turned away when someone came to her for help. Because of her commitment, she has impacted the lives of hundreds of students. I know that I would not be where I am today without her. I am honored to have known her and to call her a close friend. I’ll always remember her with love.”

LorriLee Geraci will forever be known as a caring mother, loving wife, brilliant teacher, and kind friend. It is because of her influence that Mepham is the great institution that it is today. She showed people the importance of hard work, passion, and resilience.

In memory of Mrs. Geraci, the family is requesting donations for the establishment of the Lorilee Geraci Scholarship Fund to be awarded to one student every year who displays excellence in science and community service. If you wish to donate, go to www.gofundme.com/LLGScholarship or donate via check to Miranda Geraci-Yee, 259 Whaley Street, Freeport, NY, 11520.

Mrs. Geraci will live on through the people she inspired and the positivity she spread in the world. Mepham is lucky to have known such an amazing woman. Never forget her legacy.
