Intramurals Going Strong

Robert Caminiti, Staff Writer

Mepham conducted open intramurals for all fall sports. These sports include men’s and women’s volleyball, soccer and cross country. There are also girl’s tennis, kickline and cheerleading as well as boy’s badminton and football. There are two sessions after school, one from 3:00 – 4:15 and the other 4:30 – 6:00.

Volleyball has been doing a great job keeping everyone socially distant. The boys aren’t allowed to share balls, so partner work is not allowed. Instead they go to a wall and practice their bump set spike. There is also conditioning involved; coaches have them doing multiple jumping exercises to increase their vertical this season.

Mepham athletes, as well as fans, hope that these intramurals continue because they are a small sign that these sports may have a season later in the year.
