High School Hockey is Back

Through all the craziness since the start of the pandemic, we are proud to say Mepham has stayed open and now is reaching the end of the fall sports season. Among these sports we have had volleyball, soccer, and football to name a few and as of the weekend of April 10th, the Bellmore Merrick Bulldogs have finally begun playing games. However, this year’s hockey season is not typical in the slightest, as the Bulldogs will be playing in a two weekend long tournament. The tournament started April 9 with each team playing in a three game round robin.

The Bulldogs started the tournament on fire winning all three games played that weekend. The Bulldogs won their first game by a score of 6-1 over Oceanside, then they carried this momentum into game two where they showed a dominant performance beating Rockville Centre 8-0. Finally they closed out the 3-game round robin with an even more dominant 9-0 win over the Seaford, Wantagh, Plainedge team.

Now we wait two weeks to see if the Bulldogs can carry out this momentum and take home the championship for Bellmore-Merrick.
