February 2023 Edition

The sci-fi action film “Avatar” became a series when its sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water” was released on December 16, 2022. The film has received positive feedback from viewers around the world after its exciting release. The film follows the characters from the previous movie, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), and Ney’tir (Zoe Saldaña), who reside in their home planet Pandora, a lush alien world populated by beings described as Avatars. In addition, this sequel introduces the family of Jake Sully and Ney’tir, who were not present in the first film. In this sequel Jake Sully and his family must fight a difficult battle against the humans from earth, otherwise referred to as “sky people’’ in the movie. The film includes plenty of action, comedy, and the beautiful creatures of Pandora.
“Avatar: The Way of Water,” directed by James Cameron, is a truly mind blowing film. When watching it, one can not help but admire the talented cinematography and computer graphics that contributed to the film. The vivid plants and animals in the film were realistic and definitely provided more enjoyment to the film. Moreover, the plot of the movie was kept interesting, and action-packed. There were several suspenseful scenes in which you couldn’t turn away. However, this film was quite long, with a run time of 3 hours and 12 minutes, which can discourage those who enjoy watching shorter films. Even though “Avatar: The Way of Water” is a sequel to “Avatar,” I found that it could be watched standing alone, as you did not need much knowledge from the first movie to understand the second.
If you’re interested in science fiction films, “Avatar: The Way of Water” is definitely recommended. Considering the immense amount of hard work that was contributed to this film, it is definitely a must-watch for any sci-fi fans. This movie was overwhelmingly impressive and a fascinating watch.
