Hello Pirates! You are almost half way done with this school year. With that said, make sure that you continue to get involved in clubs, school events, school spirit weeks, sports, and more to make the most of your time at Mepham! Since the last edition, a major event that happened was none other than Battle of the Classes. With this event, grade levels were able to compete to see which grade would win. The Seniors ended up winning with 710 points, then the Juniors, next was the Sophomores, and lastly was the Freshmen. Continue with the school spirit, Pirates!
A major milestone for many Long Island schools is AI being introduced into classrooms. AI has been a tool students have used in order to help them study and re-learn material for their next exam, but what if teachers used it to create lessons, give feedback on assignments, and help grade papers? Teachers have been not only suggested but encouraged to use AI in classrooms by administration to help deepen the degree of material being taught, tested, and assisting teachers with grading.
With the world becoming more digital-with AP exams and SAT tests transforming to online and even certain jobs being taken over by AI, many Long Island schools are finding it useful to use AI to their advantage to help further students’ education and improve teacher feedback on assignments. While controversial, Long Island schools will likely continue to experiment in order to best benefit student engagement, performance, and grasp of the material.
Finally Pirates, make sure to bundle up for winter as this fall has been notably cold for Long Island, and the winter season is no exception. Temperatures have been 15-20 degrees colder than average for early December and studies predict this will be one of the snowier winters. Continue to enjoy your high school experience and write your story while continuing to get involved, Pirates!
